Displaying exceptional creative maturity and imaginative thinking, approximately 80 graduating students of Pearl Academy Jaipur campus showcased their outstanding work during Portfolio 2019 at Birla Auditorium in Rambagh, Jaipur. The event witnessed a diverse range of innovative projects being displayed before the industry guests, media personnel, design intenders and parents. Architect Shamini Shanker was the chief guest at the event. Other eminent personalities who graced the occasion included Jagrati Shringi, CTO, Voylla, Abhishek Sand, Director Savio Jewellery, Anshuman Sharma, Chairman-Elect, IIID Jaipur and Madhulika Tiberwal from RASA. They appreciated students work and shared their valuable inputs with them. Earlier in March this year, fashion design students had showcased at India’s most coveted FDCI Fashion Week.

 

Driven by the passion to create an impact on the society, students of Pearl Academy showcased creative solutions to the challenging problems that exist today and presented their work. Uttara Sharma, a jewellery Design student, blended traditional technique with new technology in her collection titled ‘Search for the Little’. Another student Vaishali Aggarwal’sproject ‘The Buried Jewels’ is a tribute to such objects which have been left behind with time with the aspiration of becoming 'ANTIQUE' by preserving them as timeless jewellery pieces. With the aim to create a safer place for sex-workers, Interior Architecture and Design student Paridhi Dhariwal’s project ‘Home after Work’ showcased innovation in design to create a homely space where people involved in the trade can live with dignity and feel at home. Another Interior Architecture and Design student Vartika Jangid’s project focused on developing a multi-function, transformable public space that adapts with the nature of its users and caters to different activities during the different time-frames of a day. Through her project, Vartika seeks to transform the open public space into playing spots for the students during the free hours of their school. Divya Singh, a student from Interior Architecture and Design, created a ‘House of Worship’ where self-reflection is centre stage for the millennials to be able to delve deep and analyze their behaviour, priorities and aspirations to become better human beings. Rachna Vanya, created an accommodation space for the tribal artists of Madhya Pradesh where they can exchange dialogues related to art. Her project- ‘Samvad’ seeks to create an open discussion platform for tribal artists and provide them with an exploration centre to create the products and develop the arts and crafts market.

Commenting on the occasion, Prof. Nandita Abraham, President, Pearl Academy said, “For the last 26 years we have provided students with a culture of innovation, design and creative thinking along with the right mentors to make them successful in their chosen fields. I am amazed to see the creative maturity of our students in finding solutions to real-world problems. I wish them the very best for their future endeavours. I would also like to congratulate the Campus Director, Taruna Vasu, Deans of schools of Design and, Fashion and all the faculty members of Pearl Academy Jaipur for bringing out the best in students.

Pearl Portfolio has been a signature event of Pearl Academy for more than 26 years and has been an annual launch pad showcasing the work of graduating students. In the recent times, students have also showcased their work at India Fashion week, Pune Design Festival and other global platforms like New York Fashion Week, Dubai Design Week, London Graduate Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week etc.  Pearl Academy students from Jaipur have found placement in companies like Future Group, Urbania, ANA Designs, Villa Interieur, Arvind Mills, Pero, Fabcraft, Caratlane, Payal Pratap Singh, amongst many others.
