Anthony Lopez
Design Director, Principal Designer - Lopez Design
Mr. Anthony is the founder and principal designer of Lopez Design. Besides heading all departments of the firm, he is directly involved in every major project. With wide--ranging experiences, he is an integral part of the design team and brings clarity in directing the outcome. His expertise shapes the firm’s client interaction, design direction and organization of projects. He drives the design strategy for projects and is primarily responsible for articulating the firm’s intent and vision. His motto of ‘doing the right thing’ is instilled into everything the studio does. A stickler for detail, nothing escapes Anthony’s eyes.
Anthony is a voracious reader, he enjoys jazz and in his free time loves watching movies.
Qualification: NID graduate with specialization in Visual Communication Design (five and a half years Professional Education Program)
Trained under eminent photographer Parmanand Dalwadi for one year before joining NID.
Experience: 28 years experience in Graphic Design. Worked on and managed a wide variety of projects from museum design, multimedia space experiences, web design, exhibition design to brand identity programs. People photography for clients like UNDCP and BBC World Service Trust. Consultancy in the areas of brand strategies and communication design. With core strength in strategy, has ownership for all projects of Lopez Design since inception. A responsible and driven designer, he handles major projects and planning without compromising on detail.
Core competence: Design strategy and concept design and direction. Ability to understand and articulate project deliverables to design team, defining appropriate processes resulting in deliverables at international standards and best--in--class. Capable of multidisciplinary conceptualisation and implementation across diverse mediums of communications like print, web, animation, multimedia, film and exhibitions.
A natural team builder, Lopez leads without autocracy. His avid interest in dialogues over design has taken him on stage to share his views at the Coalition, Kyoorius Design Yatra and The Sri Lanka Design Festival. He has given talks at Design X Design Forum and at Pecha Kucha’s ID 2014 Symposium and others. He has been a jury member and lecturer at several top design schools in the country especially at NIFT and NID. Anthony looks at solutions as long term strategic intervention and all designs at the studio are evolved with future expectancy.
