Mr. Shekhar is an award-winning journalist, author, and broadcaster. His last book ‘Name Place Animal Thing’, non-fiction on India and popular culture, is a critically acclaimed bestseller.

 Shekhar has been a widely read columnist and film critic for a decade and half, starting with Mid-day; Mumbai Mirror, a paper he helped set up under The Times of India Group; and Hindustan Times, where he served as National Culture Editor. His reviews have been published in half a dozen languages, across national and international publications.

 As a film critic, Shekhar consults and curates for various film festivals, including the Jagran Film Festival, India’s largest film festival that travels to 16 cities. He has served on several international and Indian juries, most recently, at the National Film Awards.

 He’s the first recipient of Ramnath Goenka Award, for films and television journalism, presented by the President of India. And he’s hosted shows on digital platforms and TV channels: NDTV 24x7, NDTV Prime, and others.

 Shekhar read economics at Delhi’s St Stephen’s College. He is currently Entertainment Head at Mid-day newspaper in Mumbai.
